How I Can Help

“Definitely made progress towards me feeling more emotionally resilient.”

“Helped me reframe my thinking, feel stronger and more able to cope with difficult situations.”

“Katharine really helped by listening, letting me explore certain feelings and spotting patterns in my own behaviour.”

Within the counselling relationship you will receive ongoing support and feedback and begin to gain personal insight and understanding.  Working relationally, I am especially interested in how childhood experience unconsciously informs our adult relationships; and how this can impact on both our mental and physical wellbeing.

Giving words to your story and paying attention to your mind, body and feelings in therapy can help you to increase self-awareness, learn new coping strategies, begin to see things from a different perspective, alleviate anxiety, improve your mood and heal some of your past trauma, hurts or disappointments.

I have knowledge and experience working with a wide range of emotional and psychological issues, including: Abuse (child sexual abuse, coercive control, emotional abuse, psychological abuse), Addiction/s, Alcohol Problems, Anger Management, Anxiety, Loss and Bereavement, Low Confidence, Co-dependency, Depression, Domestic Violence, Drug Misuse, Eating Disorders, Health Anxiety, Illness, Loneliness, Low Self Esteem, OCD, Post Traumatic Stress, Phobias, Panic, Relationship issues, Self Harm, Stress, Substance Misuse, Trauma.

I have also worked with a variety of people from different groups and ethnicities, including those identifying as BME, carers, elders/third age, fathers, LGBTQ, men, mothers, parents, students, survivors of abuse, women and young adults.

And with extensive business and charity sector skills and experience, I can provide support for employers, staff, managers, senior executives and self-employed people experiencing stress / management or other workplace issues.

My aim is to increase access to therapies, working cross culturally with a range of difference; and I’m mindful of how therapy can be adapted to different people and situations in order to provide a safe and effective therapeutic alliance.
